Child Abuse Prevention Month: Break the Silence

As many of you know, April is Child Abuse Prevention Month.  We hope that each one of you will do what you can to take advantage of this opportunity and help raise awareness of the problem of childhood sexual abuse that exists in our society.

For most, sexual abuse is a difficult topic to talk about.  It is a disgusting thing and thus can be an uncomfortable subject to bring up with others.  However, unless we start getting out of our comfort zones and speaking about this problem, the silence will just continue to fuel the problem.  We hope that you will join us this month in breaking the silence!  Let's not continue to pretend that sexual abuse is something that only happens once and a while.  Let's not just sweep these issues under the rug and hope that they go away. Let's not just sit on the side and hope that those who are affected by abuse will be able to deal with it on their own.  Let's take action!  Find something that you can do to make a difference.  You can talk to your peers about the issue.  Talk to your children.  Support a worthy cause.  If you are in the Utah area, you can even join our walk.  You can even change you Facebook profile picture to a blue ribbon, the symbol for child abuse prevention.  It doesn't matter what you do, as long as you do something!  Together, we can make a difference.

Break the silence!
